Copper House Remodel
The Copper House was named for the ceiling that was already there — unique, warm, and almost removed before we decided it was the whole point. We kept it, along with the original timber beams +windows, and let those bones lead every decision that followed.
What came in was lighter: new oak floors, simplified trim, and a palette that finally let the architecture breathe. The kitchens and bathrooms were gutted and rebuilt from scratch — all warmth, texture, and intention. This is what a home looks like when you keep the character and design updates around it.
I don’t do many full design projects, but when I do I wish they could all be as amazing as this one. I’ve learned that what truly makes a project great isn’t tile or stone (although those matter too….). No, what really makes a build or remodel special is the relationship you build with the clients throughout the process.
Key Updates
- Replaced flooring with light, wide-plank white oak flooring throughout
- Restructured the entry and enclosed the dining area with a new entertaining wet-bar (with backlit Cristallo countertops)
- New kitchen with wide, white oak cabinets and a custom plaster hood
- Custom limestone fireplace surround and mantle
- Removed stone from fireplace and replaced it with a hand-troweled plaster finish
- Eliminated heavy window trim
- Freshened up bathrooms with earthy, organic textures and a neutral palette
- Combined laundry room and mudroom to create one larger, multi-functional space
