A beach trip isn’t in the cards right now, but I can always go to the beach in my mind. And that’s easier when your space feels a little like a beach house. Naturally, I have patio decor at the top of my mind right now.

We LIVE outside in the summer… so I treat our outdoor spaces like another room of our house.

I take decorating our deck as seriously as any interior space!

Patio decor is one of my favorite things to shop for, and I add a few new pieces this time every year (love the sales!).

I’ve had a lot of friends ask me for suggestions for patio decor ideas lately, so I wanted to put together a summer mood board with what I am loving right now for our backyard. I have many of these items on our patio… and I’m dreaming of the others.

Keep scrolling for a breakdown of my top 4 favorite sources for outdoor decor!

Patio Decor Must Haves

  • Pretty Storage (for cushions, toys + towels)
  • Fun Patterned Outdoor rugs (make it feel like a real room)
  • A Sturdy Market Umbrella
  • Sturdy Lounge Chairs ( I’m obsessed with Polywood – no maintenance)
  • Clean Lined Lanterns
  • A High/Low Mix of Outdoor Throw Pillows (mix up texture + pattern)
  • Textural Outdoor Blankets (for Chilly Mornings)
  • A Console Table (use as a bar, serve food, set out sunscreen)

My Favorite Patio Decor Sources

Serena + Lily

This site has the most gorgeous outdoor furniture + textiles. They are also the source for the iconic swing chair that backyard dreams are made of. If nothing else… take a look for the patio decor ideas. Inspiration abounds.

Pottery Barn

I’ve always loved the outdoor patio decor at Pottery barn, especially. their accessories.

Right now, I am currently eyeing their Indio Kitchen, a modular metal outdoor kitchen.

Indio Kitchen

Pottery Barn is also a great source for:

  • Outdoor plates + drinkware
  • Lanterns
  • Serving Pieces
  • Pool + Beach Storage

World Market

World Market is a great option for fun, affordable outdoor funiture.

Outdoor Lounge Sets

I also love the store’s selection of patio decor + accessories.

Target

This is where I “fill in the holes”. I’m all about the high/low mix and Target has a great selection of fun and affordable ways to up your patio decor game.

Throw these in your cart:

  • Throw Pillows
  • String Lights
  • Fun Decorative Objects

This Smith + Hawken area rug will work in almost any space. I have the runner in my front yard, and love it so much I just bought another one to go under our outdoor sofa.

You can even LAYER a smaller, more colorful rug on top of it to jazz it up… but it’s a great base layer and holds up well.

Other things I’m loving:

I hope you found some inspiration here for updating your patio decor for summer!

Where else are you lookin’ for inspiration? Let me know what space you want to see next!
