If you know me, you know I am a grownup with a somewhat stunted palate. I especially loathe fish. Although I know salmon is good for me, I struggle to choke it down on the rare occasions it lands on my plate. This easy Honey Sriracha Salmon recipe is the lone exception.
This salmon recipe has a lot going for it:
- It requires simple ingredients that you probably have in your kitchen right now.
- The marinade takes under 5 minutes to make
- The honey-sriracha glaze adds an intense, complex layer of flavor to help make salmon more palatable for the fish haters in your life
Before I share the details, I need to add a disclaimer: the quality of the salmon you buy matters. A lot. I have tried a lot of different stores and the ONLY one that I like is the fresh salmon from the seafood counter at Whole Foods. It’s hard to find good fish sometimes when you live in Colorado… so if you are already averse to fishy tastes, do yourself a favor and buy the good stuff.
There are several versions of this honey-sriracha recipe combination floating around the internet, and I have no idea where I originally got it from. I may have googled “Salmon recipes that won’t make me gag.” I’m not sure. There were new babies back then and those years are all kind of a blur.
I found this link from Freshly Zested that is pretty much the gist of it. I feel better giving some credit than no credit…even though I’m 84% sure this isn’t the original site I got it from. They suggest baking it, I always grill salmon. Do what makes you happy.
To be honest, I don’t even measure anymore. I just use equal parts sauce and honey and go from there. It’s so easy! But if you’re a rule follower, here is an official, written recipe:
I like to serve this with a side of grilled veggies (squash, asparagus or green beans are all good accompaniments) and some simple white rice. Top with another drizzle of Sriracha and a squeeze from the other side of the lemon. Bam! You have yourself a delicious dinner.
