Healthy Pina Colada Recipes

In honor of the current made up holiday, National Pina Colada Day, I wanted to share my favorite healthy Pina Colada Recipes with you today.

2 Ways to Make Healthy Pina Coladas

Pina Coladas are absolutely my #1 favorite beach cocktail. Sadly, I rarely order them on vacation because they tend to be made with heavy, sugary mixers. I usually step off the plane, order one and then throw in the towel.

Fortunately, I’ve discovered that I can easily create healthy Pina Colada smoothies and home using fresh, simple ingredients. They’re so easy that I can even get away with having a breakfast Pina Colada (skip the booze, add protein).

Option A: Healthy Pina Colada Smoothie

Healthy Pina Colada Smoothie Recipe

I originally started making these Pina Colada smoothies when I was following the Tone It Up Nutrition plan, and they are a great way to quench your desire for this tropical treat.

I tweaked the recipe a little bit by substituting coconut water for almond milk to make it extra hydrating after a workout or at the beach,

TIP: Another hack I learned from ToneItUp is to always keep a bag of frozen bananas in the fridge.

When your bananas get too ripe to eat, do this:

  • Peel them
  • Break them in half
  • Toss them in a Ziplock or food storage container in the freezer.

Toss half of one in any smoothie to make it extra creamy and decadent!

Option B: Healthy Pina Colada Cocktail

This single serving recipe is perfect to make for a boat drink or evening cocktail hour. I included measurements here, but feel free to get loose with it. Honestly, I never measure when I make smoothies. I simply estimate, blend, and add more liquid until it reaches the desired consistency.
