Organize A Baking Station
If you love the thought of baking, but you tend to avoid it just seems like a lot of work then this might be the post for you.
As an avid baker, I have spent a lot of time honing the best techniques for storing, organizing and making my baking supplies easy to access. Over the years I have learned that organizing a baking station or a baking zone can really cut down on the time I spend baking. Having everything conveniently grouped in one space makes it so easy!
It’s easy to adapt this strategy to any kitchen, but the key is to place your ingredients in easy-to-move bins. That way you can
- Quickly move supplies to your workspace
- Keep loose items grouped
- Contain inevitable spills (baking is messy so you’ll thank me for your cleaner cupboards!).
Tackle this easy little project (seriously, it will take less than an hour if you have the supplies) so that if the inspiration to bake does strike, the process will be easy as pie.
Supplies You’ll Need To Organize A Baking Station
- 1 small container or bin that will fit the depth of your kitchen cabinets, pantry, or drawers
- 1 large container or bin that will fit the depth of your kitchen cabinets, pantry or drawers
- Air Sealing Canisters (Such as ProKeeper Storage Set for bulk ingredients)
- Labels, Chalk/Paint Pen or Label Maker (optional)

How To Organize A Baking Station
Step 1 | Gather Ingredients
Gather frequently used baking ingredients and spread them out on the counter. This will vary depending on what products you use.
If you’re not a baker or aren’t sure where to start, here are my suggestions:
- Flour
- Sugar
- Brown Sugar
- Bisquick, Kodiak Cakes or Favorite Baking Mix
- Powdered Sugar
- Salt
- Baking Soda
- Baking Powder
- Vanilla + Other Extracts
- Baking Spices (Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Pumpkin Pie Mix, Etc.)
- Corn Starch
- Toothpicks (to test doneness)
- Sprinkles + Frosting
- Cupcake Liners
I also like placing my baking tools (mixer, bowls, measuring cups + spoons, etc.) near the supplies if possible… but that might be a project for another day!

Step 2 | Determine Location
Determine a convenient location for storing your “baking station”.
The idea is that you want to store all of your supplies together in one dedicated zone. Clear out an area that will house the volume of items you just collected (that’s why we do that first!).
Good locations can include:
Pantries

Upper cabinets

Deep lower drawers

A freestanding cabinet or buffet near the kitchen

A rolling storage cart

Step 3 | Organize Items
- Decant larger items into canisters (if using) and place the canisters into large basket or bins.
- Place smaller ingredients into small bin(s).
- Use labels or pens to label canisters and the front of bins if desired.
- Slide bins/baskets into place on shelf or in drawer and admire your baking station!
Now when you are ready to bake it will be easy to just grab the bins off the shelf and move them to your workspace directly on the counter while you work. Everything you need will be at your fingertips, and it is easy to return everything to their bins before quickly returning them to their new home in your pantry, drawer or cupboard.
Grab. Bake. Repeat.
After You’ve Organized your baking Station…It’s time to start baking!

Here are some of my favorite Recipes to Use in Your Newly Organized Baking Station
If you have time to make something special:
Magnolia Table Cinnamon Squares
Make a morning of it; deliver to friends with a pound of coffee and they’ll feel loved.
If you’re looking for a fresh flavor:
Sally’s Baking Addiction Easy Key Lime Pie
This one has a unique crust!
If you’re looking for something chocolate:
Half Baked Harvest Caramel Mocha Nutella Brownies
If you love apple pie, but can’t be bothered to actually make a pie crust:
If you’re looking for a crowd pleaser:
I make these every single year. And then proceed to eat most of the pan by myself if I don’t give away most of them immediately. So I recommend these for potlucks, football games, and sharing in social situations to save yourself from regret.
If you complete this project, I’d love to see your finished product! Send me an email or tag me on Instagram (@suzettegebhardt_creative).
Happy organizing!
