Want Easy Easter Basket Ideas? You Need A System!

Finding Easter Basket Ideas Is Easier When you Have a System

About 10 years ago I made a decisions that

  1. Saved me a lot of time
  2. Saved me a lot of money
  3. Saved me a lot of stress

I created an informal system that I have used moving forward every year when the time inevitably comes to play Easter bunny. Yes, you’ll still find me wandering the seasonal aisle at Target and contemplating whether I should treat myself to a bag of Reese’s peanut butter eggs. But this strategy makes the trip much shorter and much less stressful- because I’m going in with a plan.

If filling your kids’ baskets ever feels stressful, read on to learn a few easy easter basket ideas that will simplify the process.

Reuse Your Base

DOn’t buy Baskets/Grass

  • Choose a neutral forever basket and filler that can grow with your child
  • Invest in a monogrammed liner (I like the ones from the Pottery Barn Easter shop)
  • Choosing a medium-sized basket means you don’t have to buy as much to fill it

Choose 1 Main Item

WoW Factor

  • Wish list item
  • Can be practical or “just for fun”
  • Sized appropriately (1/2-2/3 basket size)
  • This doesn’t have to be expensive! It can be a simple ball or stuffed animal.

Include Stuff They’ll Use

Think Practical

  • Avoid throw-aways; opt for consumable items that they’ll actually use
  • Cosmetics and personal-care items are great Easter Basket ideas because they can be fun and practical
  • Match your basket’s color theme (if you have one) when selecting items to make them feel thoughtful
  • I like to include gear for a current sport or activity (balls, eye black, water bottles, etc.)

Easter Basket Fillers

A SImple Mix

  • 1-2 small toys for fun (chalk, bubbles, fidgets, tech items, lip gloss, Legos, etc.)
  • A salty or savory snack
  • A few small bags of candy to fill the gaps
  • I always tuck a chocolate bunny in the back!

Easter Basket Ideas Checklist
